Best Training Aid Carried by Most Golf Professionals

In the current era of home bound golfers we have all been on a search for the best products to help improve our game. Golf.com published a recent article on some very common training aids used by my professionals. Prominent in the article are items used by Dustin Johnson who in the past has a problem with putting. The aid of emphasis is a alignment aid for putting to help your stroke. I, like Dustin have putting problems, but the aids shown have helped him improve and are helping me improve.

Experience has shown me that a Putting Mirror has been a good purchase. There are multiple items out there on the market to chose from so you can choose what is best. I suggest that you visit the website GolfTrainingAids.com which is run and recommended by a friend, Dr. Gary Wiren, and his son. You can find the link at the top of CleekGeekGolf.com home page to reach the this website. This is an item I highly recommend as it was used during my college days learning the various aspects of the golf game. The good part is that this item is relatively inexpensive.

Another product, though more expensive, you will find at GolfTrainingAids.com is the Putting Matt. This is a pre-printed, auto-return matt that has very true green feel and alignment aids which work well with the mirror. These two items enjoined for your practice should help improve your putting.

AXIS1 PUTTER REVIEW

UPDATE: 2020-05-29  With a little more exposure and practice, I have gotten a little better. I feel that my problem is more with the read than the equipment. I have however noticed that I am closer to the hole on the miss affected by distance. Recommendation is to stay with it and get a refresher course from your local PGA Pro on the mechanics.

Here is a review on the my recently received new AXIS1 ‘Joey” putter. I have been able to try the putter on the golf course and for a few drills at home and find that this is a very good product. I have tried about 6 different types of putter during my time playing the game and find this one the easiest to get used to.

For a good discussion you need to see the related video review by Justin Rose at https://youtu.be/g-Lk0kn85_4

There are a number of sources out there with various prices. In my opinion, at this time for someone looking for a change due it is a good choice. I have a problem with the backswing wabbling and not getting the club face back to the ball with the center of the club face at the ball. With all the training I have received I find this club the easiest and more stable during the backswing. The lighter ‘Joey’ blade model fits my eye well and I have reasonable distance control. The biggest improvement in my putting with this equipment is getting the ball on line.

I would recommend this product but it is the owner’s choice in the various models available (don’t just get Justin’s because he is a pro) based on your preference in the style from a blade to a large mallet like Justin’s.

Good luck by supporting the Greatest Game Ever…..

MOST WANTED MALLET PUTTERS

Back again and I am relying on my friends at MySpyGolf to provide the best information available for the benefit of my readers. As one can see in the article attached mallet putter have changed and updated their style and designs. We all understand that this is an annual process in order for each manufacturer to get his product onto the market.

Ever since I was introduced to Evnroll Putters at the PGA show I have been a real fan. Looking forward to revisit in 2022 and adding Axis1 to my must see list. (FYI: Odessey has always been there).  I have helped a number of the members at my former club make decisions on a new putter and this type of information has been a great help. Both articles have very good information for those considering a change in the process and equipment. The most significant change in the lists are the increased in costs of putters over time.

Check out the link below to get the latest information and I am leaving the older version online for comparison.

In 2018 it appears that again the Evnroll has topped the list again, however, a new character has entered the fight. In 2021 Odessey is back at the top of the putter lines. 2018 Tommy Armour had a new model (#3 Align) that has great test results. If you scroll the website you will see that I have added a special single product review for Axis1 putters which I am swapping back and forth with my Evenroll as the best putter on hand.
